At 2 in x 8 in, these rough cut building materials are among our smallest fireplace shelving options, and are lightweight. The rough cut shelving has a smoother, more refined surface than the hand hewn options, but still showcase the saw marks from the original woodworking that occurred more than a century ago.
Reclaimed from building materials of old barns and wooden structures across the U.S., this shelving has characteristics like fastener holes, nail holes, and natural weathering. You’ll be able to really see the skilled woodworking and durability of this dimensional lumber. Each rough cut mantel features a square edge, and can be installed as floating shelving or with the added support of corbels.
We cut the actual product to your desired length, and have a range of customization options available. All of our mantels and shelving are made from original reclaimed dimensional lumber and may have variations in dimensions up to 1 inch. Wooden mantels come in a mix of hardwoods and softwoods, such as Douglas fir and yellow pine. Each rough cut mantel is surface washed and kiln dried to remove the moisture content from the wood.
