Rustic Hickory

American Rustic Hickory Flooring

If you’re planning a DIY home project, consider rustic hickory hardwood floors. Characterized by vibrant grain patterns, rustic hickory hardwood floors make a beautiful flooring choice for your home. Rustic grade hickory is visually unique in part because of the original milling marks left behind by the sawmill. Prominent knots and water stains allow for a grain pattern that simply can’t be matched in many other wood species.

While the sapwood of hickory is very pale, the heartwood adds dark reddish-brown tones, which means these wood floors are available in a range of color variations and styles. Hickory hardwood flooring is likely to be straight-grained, but can occasionally feature wavy or irregular patterns. Mineral streaks may also be visible or especially noticeable in different wood planks.

Before hickory was used as a type of wood flooring, it was used to make a variety of sports equipment including tennis rackets, skis and golf club shafts. With a Janka rating of 1820, hickory is an ideal option when you’re ready to make a solid hardwood flooring investment. Hickory wood is so strong that, with proper maintenance, this wide plank flooring will last a lifetime with minimal wear, even in high-traffic areas of your home. Our rustic hickory flooring comes in random lengths and wide plank options.

Ask our Elmwood expert installers about pricing on underlayment, stair treads, stair nose and warranties on our rustic hickory flooring. And be sure to explore our wide selection of other straight sawn wide plank hickory floors, including hickory stick and traditional hickory. We also have products available in other wood species, such as red oak, white oak, heart pine and more.
