Reclaimed Antique Cypress Description: A rich-toned, beautifully grained softwood, cypress has been of historical importance to this country since the colonial period. Color can range from a rich, reddish-tan to a light chocolate, with a very fine and unique grain pattern. Old growth cypress has incredibly tight growth rings and is excellent for any interior or exterior project. Cypress grew alongside longleaf heart pine on the Southeastern Coastal Plain, where it preferred tidewater swamplands and riverbanks. Just like the longleaf heart pine, cypress was over harvested. Old growth cypress is now rare and the young, newly harvested trees of today do not compare in density, strength and natural beauty.
