Reclaimed Antique White Oak Description: The sapwood is lighter than the hardwood, which is a light tan to yellow-brown.  White oak is usually straight grained, but can be often irregular or cross-grained.  It has a slightly less coarse texture than red oak and has been widely used throughout history as a cornerstone wood for most any application.  Antique reclaimed white oak develops a richer, more golden tone than its newly harvested counterpart and growth ring density is far greater.  White oak has been the wood of choice for barrel cooperage for distilleries throughout history.
